Cousins in August 1994

Darren and Alan. Alan just had jaw surgury and his mouth was wired shut at this time.

Me and Thee

Childhood. Both before age two.

Clematis

Clematis bloomed heavy for much of summer 2007. Would much much prefer this white instead of the long winter snow we have seen.

Friday!

Ahhh. Tis friday and I actually have a ME day..they are rare. Where do I start? Should do something on my long list of domestic and get it outta the way. Why is it that housecleaning seems to go unnoticed unless you do not keep up on it? I spent some time on thursday at several decorating places, and was totally overwhelmed at all the choices for flooring, counters, lights, etc. I remember back to the day when I was in hs and there was one choice of jeans to wear so really no major decision to be made or maybe it was more that I knew what I wanted.

Even eating out..now you have choices to make..soup??salad?? what kind of bread?dressing and on goes the list..some days it gets confuddling..is that a word?

Back to the making choices for the home. We are hoping to do some updating in our house and where do you start? What do you spend? I want to like it when it is done. So part of this winter has been working with some contractors and some ideas are starting to come together. We think. Plan on looking online at some ideas today AFTER some much needed domestic gets accomplished.

Just yesterday I noticed the diesel price upped again..3.50 a gallon. OUCH. Hubby does some trucking and it sure sucks the gallons and $$$$ quickly. So instead of sitting here I am heading to do the same old same old..dishes, laundry, cleaning, sorting, tossing, make some lunch, and squeeze a leisurly bath in there somewhere just for me.

Happy valentines day!

Nothing like a fresh snowfall to head outdoors..shovels needed. But main reason to go out today was to have fun like a kid again. Have two grandkids for part of the day so we put on all our gear and headed out to climb BIG drifts. Definitely some good exercise for this gma. We did some planning before heading out. For once. Made sloppy joes to simmer until lunchtime. We ate the best first, BROWNIES. still warm from the oven when we came in.
The farmer in the family is getting weary of almost daily plowing and moving snow to clean out the areas so they can feed cows. Adds some time to the daily grind.

Snow banks from the storms.

Sadie on the snow bank.

Diabetes

I have the big D. But to be positive it must be one of the better abnormalities to have. Not saying that we get to pick and choose. But for me..I have been lucky.
I am battery operated.:) I have a insulin pump which works very well for me and makes my lifestyle more the norm. So what is normal??? Webster defines it one way..free from any disease,disorder,malformation..mentally sound...ha maybe we better not dwell on it.
I managed to have two children before the days of my pump which was amazing. I have what is termed brittle diabetes.
I got it during highschool. Thoughts seem to come to me these days as it is soon time for my warranty to be up on my second pump. Which will be 8 years pumping. WOW. Insurance has been very good and I certainly have not counted my expense of running my pump..that could be depressing.
Many people who have pumps have them named. Mine is mortimor. My best and closest friend for life.

A capture of one of many days of hoarfrost.

This winter we have had lots of days with hoarfrost.
The house up on blocks in the background is free for anyone willing to foot the costs to move it. It is across from our existing property.

I am NEVER late

I am never late to anything. Usually 10-15 minutes early..but today I had a dentist app and was running late in leaving and it had just started snowing big huge wet flakes.
So I was driving as usual but the snow was piling up and had started earlier where I was heading ..20 miles south. And it was slick around the corners..I was very glad for the snowbank that held me in just before a bridge!
No cavities.

groundhogs day

Today is groundhogs day. I had a great gma whose birthday fell on this day. It sure does not look like he saw his shadow here today..
Currently a light snow is falling and it is a nice balmy 30 or so. Keep in mind we just got over some -50 windchills a few days ago. And a genuine country blizzard.
I am making the most of my day doing whatever things I get into..seems I get distracted easily and nothing much gets done but am thankful for what does!
We shopped at cabelas one day recently to use a gift certificate. Vernon said he NEEDED a new pair of khakis...WOW..I need to find out which ones to get rid of in his closet as he did get a new pair which involved trying them on in the dressing room. Such a job.
